Also called ‘Sunrise’ Clareboudt's basic idea for the overall sculpture in Tørskind Gravel Pit was the sun’s journey across the sky. In the Bronze Age, the sun was divine and – like today – crucial to the cycles of the day and the year, fertility and prosperity. The sculpture extends upwards with two iron girders in a tensioned V shape, squeezing a large wedge-shaped stone. One can imagine that the two arms will squeeze together and send the stone flying. |
