Jean Clareboudt

Also called ‘Sunrise’

Clareboudt's basic idea for the overall sculpture in Tørskind Gravel Pit was the sun’s journey across the sky. In the Bronze Age, the sun was divine and – like today – crucial to the cycles of the day and the year, fertility and prosperity.

The sculpture extends upwards with two iron girders in a tensioned V shape, squeezing a large wedge-shaped stone.

One can imagine that the two arms will squeeze together and send the stone flying.
